Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) aims to be the leading provider of accessible specialized health services in Africa and serves as healthcare social enterprise and through development programmes in the community and the most vulnerable. Committed to preventing lifelong disabilities wherever possible, CCBRT is also engaged in extensive maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC) activities including obstetric fistula repairs. From its roots in small-scale community-based rehabilitation for people with disabilities, CCBRT has grown to become Tanzania’s largest provider of disability and rehabilitation services. Through advocacy, training, and clinical service, we strive to empower people with disabilities and their families, improve their quality of life, and ensure access to medical and rehabilitative treatment. Recognising the critical relationship between quality accessible healthcare at birth and disability prevention, we also provide maternal and newborn healthcare services.
CCBRT Lab is not only a diagnostics centre but also a practical teaching centre to young scientists. In February 2023, we hosted 3rd-year bachelor of medical laboratory science students from KIUT. Modern equipment and dedicated staff make diagnostics and teaching possible.
